Intraday (within the day)
Ready indicator presets and practical lifehacks for intraday trading👇
Intraday = take movement within the day (holding from tens of minutes to several hours).
You don't need to catch every candle here, the main thing is to avoid late entries and in the middle of a move.
To avoid participating in the chase for every signal and jumping on the last train, Midas helps:
to trade only from areas of interest, where price begins to move
to enter only on confirmation, where action is required right now
to filter out extra noisy signals in order to avoid overtrading
Below I present my favorite preset settings and a step-by-step action algorithm for intraday trading, listing only the main tools for a “quick start”. But that doesn't mean the other indicators are unnecessary - you can study them a bit later. There isn't a single redundant indicator in Midas and once you master them the chart will be like an open book for you) I wish you patience and profits!
🤓For beginner intraday traders
Set up the indicator:
Strategy and number of signals - “Intraday” (signals appear not as fast as in “Scalping”, but enough to trade within the day)
Filter for signals against the trend - “Price Channel” (signals against the trend will be automatically hidden)
Set the same settings in the lower indicator for synchronous operation
If you're a newbie or confused, use only a single 15-minute timeframe and that's it - don't be a hero until you can repeat the algorithm 20 times in a row:
Step 1. Using the price channel we look for a clear trend - it's enough to look at the color and slope (green up - look for longs, red down - look for shorts, yellow sideways - skip)
Step 2. Using the channel boundaries determine the area of interest from which we will open a position (if the trend is bullish and the channel is upward - go long from the lower boundary of the channel, if the trend is bearish and the channel is downward - go short from the upper boundary of the channel)
Step 3. Wait for confirmation of a bounce from the area of interest - several candles cannot break through the area of interest (the channel boundary) + a BUY / SELL signal appeared - open a trade in the direction of the trend - approximate targets and stop will be set on the chart automatically

🎯STEP-BY-STEP TRADING ALGORITHM
Step 1. Look at the "today" trend by the price channel
Uptrend = look for longs (from the lower boundary of the channel)
Downtrend = look for shorts (from the upper boundary of the channel)
Sideways (yellow channel) = skip the asset to avoid getting stopped out
Step 2. Wait for the price to approach the area of interest
Price reached the lower boundary of the channel and received a reaction = long
Price reached the upper boundary of the channel and received a reaction = short
Step 3. Entry
You wait for the candle to close and confirmation of a bounce from the channel boundary (several candles failed to break it)
You enter after the signal, stop behind the zone / channel edge
Step 4. Exit
If price takes the first take profit, lock in 50%, move the stop to breakeven
Main target - the nearest channel boundary / level / liquidity (don't be greedy)
To avoid blowing your account in 2 days:
We don't trade a signal without a level, a signal “in the air” = garbage!
Don't go against the trend. Want a countertrend? First read the entire FAQ!
Always wait for the signal on candle close. Trading without this turns into chaos!
Always wait for confirmation - several candles failed to break the level
Risk per trade: 0,5-1%, stop is mandatory, the first 20 trades are better on micro size
Mini-checklist for self-check:
Does the price channel show the direction? ✅
Is the price at the channel boundary? ✅
Buy/Sell in the direction of the channel? ✅
Did the candle close? ✅
Stop beyond the level? ✅
Take at the next zone? ✅
🎯Clear examples of how to and how not to trade

We see a clear uptrend - the price channel is green and directed upwards
We wait for the price to approach the area of interest - the lower boundary of the channel
We wait for confirmation of the bounce and a signal - open a long
We lock the position at the upper boundary of the channel
Trades “in the air”, even if there was a signal, skip - trade only from levels

We see a clear downtrend - the price channel is red and directed downwards
We wait for the price to approach the area of interest - the upper boundary of the channel
We wait for confirmation of the bounce and a signal - open a short
We lock the position at the lower boundary of the channel
Trades “in the air”, even if there was a signal, skip - trade only from levels

Signals “in the air” - the channel is directed down, trend is downward:
❌Bad: Sell appeared in the middle of the range, not at the upper boundary of the channel
✅Good: Sell appeared at the upper boundary of the channel in the direction of the trend

Signals “against the trend” - always short moves, big risks. frequent stops
❌Bad: Buy in a red channel when the trend is downward
✅Good: Buy in a green channel when the trend is upward
😎For advanced intraday traders
Set up the indicator:

Strategy and number of signals - choose “Intraday” (signals appear not as fast as in “Scalping”, but enough to trade within the day)
Filter for signals against the trend - if you trade only by a clear trend, choose “Price Channel” or “EMA-200” (you can test other filters and look at history), if you want to see all signals and filter yourself - skip
Set the same settings in the lower indicator for synchronous operation
To cut off as much noise as possible, take precise entries only from strong areas of interest, and confirm entry with several triggers - use three timeframes:
4 hours: we look at the trend/sideways - where it makes sense to trade at all (on the upper indicator - EMA and channel, on the lower indicator - money flow, trend tape)
1 hour: we look at the area of interest (horizontal levels, price channel, liquidity heatmap, horizontal volume profile)
15 minutes (if sniper - you can use 5 minutes, if busy - you can use 30 minutes): we find the entry (we look at signals on the lower timeframe - ignore signals on higher timeframes)
🎯STEP-BY-STEP TRADING ALGORITHM
Step 1. Context (4 hours)
Uptrend = look for longs (from EMA, levels or the lower boundary of the channel)
Downtrend = look for shorts (from EMA, levels or the upper boundary of the channel)
Sideways = trade only from levels, no EMAs and no “signal in the air”
Confirm the strength of the level with shelves of horizontal volumes
Step 2. Zone (1 hour)
Price came to a strong level or channel boundary or horizontal volume
Nearby there is liquidity (as a target, or where they might “take out before reversal”)
Step 3. Entry (15 minutes)
Wait for the candle to close for confirmation of a bounce from the area of interest
Enter after the reaction (not into the level, but from the level), stop beyond the area of interest
Don't place the stop in the liquidity zone (purple strip), the price can take that liquidity along with your stop
Risk per trade: 1-2% depending on experience
Step 4. Exit
Take: the next strong level or nearest large liquidity
If the price “collected liquidity” and reversed, don't be greedy - lock in or take in parts: 50% immediately, the rest depending on the situation
Mini-checklist for self-check:
4 hours: clear trend and context? ✅
1 hour: strong zone? ✅
15 minutes: is there a reaction? ✅
Did additional triggers confirm the trade? ✅
Buy / Sell signals are viewed only on the lower timeframe where we determine the entry; on higher timeframes we ignore signals - they are needed only to analyze trend and strong levels.
🕰️ About time of day and market sessions
Intraday depends heavily on liquidity and volatility:
Do not open a new position within 5–10 minutes before a key release/news
Wait 2–5 minutes after (or wait until the candle “calms down”), and only then analyze
If you still trade releases: smaller trade, wider allowance for slippage, and no “stop in liquidity” (purple strips), if you don't want to become part of someone else's take
Midas works equally effectively on any market, but I've collected the most “alive” windows at the intersections of market sessions:
🪙 Crypto (24/7)
Best liquidity windows (MSK)
10:00–13:00: Europe wakes up.
16:00–20:00: Europe + US simultaneously (usually the most “fat”).
20:00–01:00: US pushes the market further.
News that really move crypto
Crypto is 24/7, but US macro releases often give the sharpest spikes:
US CPI / NFP are released at 8:30 ET. This is ≈ 16:30 MSK in winter / 15:30 MSK in summer (due to US DST change).
ISM PMI is released at 10:00 ET. This is ≈ 18:00 MSK in winter / 17:00 MSK in summer.
FOMC: decision 2:00 pm ET + press conference 2:30 pm ET. This is ≈ 22:00/22:30 MSK in winter or 21:00/21:30 MSK in summer.
Overnight (for crypto this is “night mode”, not market close)
There are no gaps “market closed”, but there is another nasty thing: thin night liquidity → sharp wick flushes (especially 03:00–07:00 MSK).
Practical rule: do not open new positions 5–10 minutes before a macro release and do not move stops in the first 1–3 minutes after release (there is noise and slippage there).
RU 📈 Stocks
Moscow Exchange (MOEX) (MSK)
Trading windows (currently the logic uses morning/main/evening parts):
Morning: 06:50–09:50 (including the opening auction part from 06:50).
Main: 10:00–19:00.
Evening: 19:05–23:50.
News (MOEX)
Corporate: dividends/reports/board meetings/sanction news often arrive outside the liquid middle of the day, so moves in morning/evening are often more “uneven”.
Practice: if you carry a position overnight, do it consciously: reduce size, keep the stop where it won't be taken out by the evening saw, and don't be surprised by a gap in the morning.
Overnight (MOEX)
The market is not round-the-clock, so “overnight” = gap risk (especially after the evening / for the morning) + risk of news “while you sleep”.
US 📈 Stocks
New York Stock Exchange / Nasdaq (in MSK)
Official core session of the New York Stock Exchange: 9:30–16:00 ET, plus extended hours.
Conversion to MSK (varies due to US DST):
Main session:
winter: 17:30–00:00 MSK
summer: 16:30–23:00 MSK
After-hours until 20:00 ET:
winter: until 04:00 MSK
summer: until 03:00 MSK
News (US) and why intraday traders suffer
8:30 ET (CPI, NFP etc.): this is often before the opening of the stock market → then gaps/jumps at the open.
10:00 ET (ISM): already in the active phase of the market → sharp intraday moves.
2:00/2:30 ET (FOMC): often the most volatile part of the day.
Overnight (US)
The main reason for night gaps: company reports often are released after close or before open, so holding a position “hoping” = a lottery with bad odds.
Practice: intraday positions on US stocks are usually either closed before session end, or left only if it's a conscious swing plan.
💱 Forex (24/5)
Sessions in MSK (based on UTC tables, MSK = UTC+3)
From session schedule in UTC we get:
Sydney: 00:00–09:00 MSK
Tokyo: 03:00–12:00 MSK
London: 10:00–19:00 MSK (may shift by an hour during transitions)
New York: 16:00–01:00 MSK
Most liquid window
London–New York overlap usually gives maximum liquidity/movement. In MSK this is roughly 16:00–20:00, but the exact shift depends on daylight saving in the US/Europe.
News (forex literally “lives” on this)
8:30 ET: CPI/NFP and many top releases.
10:00 ET: ISM.
2:00/2:30 ET: FOMC.
Overnight (forex)
Mon–Fri market is 24h, but weekend = gap risk (especially due to news/geopolitics).
During the week “night” = thinner liquidity for some pairs → worse spreads/more random flushes.
⚙️Midas Up preset settings for intraday
Let's break down the top tools of the upper indicator - what to enable/study to be useful, not just pretty. The rest can be hidden to declutter the chart:
Trend (the direction we trade)
Simple way - price channel (shows the local trend and channel boundaries from which a bounce may occur)
Advanced way - EMA 20 50 100 200 (with four different moving periods you can quickly understand local and global trend)
Levels (areas of interest on the upper indicator from which price will react)
For a clear trend - price channel (we wait for a reaction from the channel boundaries)
For sideways - classic horizontal support and resistance levels
To determine targets and stops - liquidity heatmap (shows where the price will be attracted - where you shouldn't place a stop)
Confirmations (additional triggers to open a trade)
Buy / Sell signal - this is not a “command to enter”, but only a “reason to open the chart” or an additional confirmation of the setup (for example the trend is bullish, price pulled back to support, a bounce up started, and we received a Buy signal - that is a confirmation)
Buyers' / sellers' pressure - are green and red circles near the candle; for a long trade a green circle is good, for a short trade a red circle is good.
⚙️Midas Down preset settings for intraday
Similarly, let's break down the top tools of the lower indicator - what to enable/study to be useful and what can be hidden to declutter the chart:
Trend (confirming the direction we trade)
Global - money flow (greatly shows the overall picture and where the money is going)
Local - trend tape (greatly shows the current wave structure without noise)
Confirmations (additional triggers to open a trade)
Price impulse - replaces all oscillators and shows the strength and speed of the impulse much more accurately, and the points on it show the moment of impulse reversal earliest of all
Scale with overheated states of 6 main oscillators - quickly and conveniently shows the overall picture where the market is moving the price (when the scale is massively colored, where it reverses (when colors massively disappear)
🔔Alerts for intraday trading
Set alerts so that they come after candle close, otherwise there will be spam - while the candle is open, signals can blink, but after close they never repaint
On the lower 15-minute TF set alerts for BUY / SELL
On the higher 1-hour TF set alerts for bounce from the level
If you need alerts in Telegram - a detailed instruction is here.
📊How to backtest the indicator on history
Method 1: open settings and uncheck "Show only the last signal" - all past signals will be displayed - they do not repaint after candle close, so you can analyze how and where they appeared, find patterns that work
Method 2: open settings and choose the indicator operation mode "Autotester" - so you will see a table with statistics for the last week / month / year, which includes signal statistics and their P/L, stops, winrate etc...
❓Frequently asked questions about intraday trading
On which timeframes to trade intraday at all?
Basics: entries most often on 15m, because there is less noise and hysteria there. On higher TFs (1 hour/4 hours) look at trend and zones, but not signals!
What to do if one TF shows one signal and another TF shows another?
Buy / Sell signals work like waves and on each TF there is its own signal, not related to other TFs. It's important to confirm a trade with the signal only on the TF where we look for the entry. On other TFs ignore signals!
Where to place the stop in intraday trading?
Classic: behind the level/behind the zone, so that a breakout would realistically cancel the idea. And a separate rule: do not place the stop in liquidity zones (purple strips), they are often “collected”.
Where is it more logical to take profit?
the nearest strong level
boundary of the price channel
nearest liquidity (as a “magnet/target”)
If you want discipline: lock in 50% quickly, manage the rest depending on the situation, but don't turn a scalp into a swing “because I believe”.
Why is there a lot of noise on the 15?
Of course it's not a 5-minute which itself is noise, but still not an hourly. Use a filter against the trend. To hide all old signals - just click "Show only the last signal"
Why didn't the level work?
All levels are broken. Bet on strong ones where there were 2 reactions and confirm the bounce - wait for several candles that failed to break.
Should you enter intraday immediately on the signal?
No. A signal is a reason to open the chart, not a command to “go all in”. In Midas a signal notifies and helps analyze, the decision is made by you.
How not to catch countertrend and suffer?
Turn on filtering against the trend (EMA-200 or price channel). This is the basic way to remove all signals against the movement.
EMA or price channel: which is better for intraday?
For a beginner it's easier price channel: it shows the direction and strength of the local trend and gives dynamic boundaries convenient for trading. EMA can be kept as additional confidence, but don't arrange a “double steering” right away.
What to do if the market is sideways and the channel is yellow?
Yellow mode = market is chopping. In sideways it's better either to skip, or (if you're not a newbie) trade only from boundaries/strong levels, but by no means in the middle of the channel. The price channel is created exactly to see this.
How to properly set alerts for intraday trading?
Logic: alert = “open the chart”, not “enter mindlessly”. Set BUY/SELL on the 15-minute TF. Notifications can be received in the app/browser/email etc., and the list/limits depend on the plan. How to set up see in the special section (table of contents on the left).
