# Auto-tester

❌One of the most common mistakes in trading is changing indicator settings by eye, without understanding how they actually behaved on a specific asset and timeframe!

As a result, hours are spent manually scrolling through the chart, or hypotheses are tested already in real trades, where mistakes are paid for with your deposit.

✅The Midas autotester is needed to quickly check exactly your indicator settings on historical data and see honest statistics of past signals without manual routine!

In this mode, all indicators are hidden, and instead a table is shown with the history of how past signals played out and monthly and yearly statistics.

## Adding to the chart

1. Open the settings by clicking ⚙️ next to the indicator name
2. In the drop-down menu, select Setup Master

## How the Autotester works

No golden Grails — it shows the real picture of your trading strategy: the statistics include all losses from triggered stop-losses!

<table data-card-size="large" data-view="cards"><thead><tr><th></th><th data-hidden data-card-cover data-type="files"></th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><p>Short video lesson, 10 minutes:</p><p>➡️<a href="https://youtu.be/JjkdbeeZyiE">Watch on YouTube</a></p><p>➡️<a href="https://vkvideo.ru/video-228172732_456239106">Watch on VK</a></p></td><td><a href="/files/0fee00d4973d939f7df67bcae39a47ed5175c6f7">/files/0fee00d4973d939f7df67bcae39a47ed5175c6f7</a></td></tr></tbody></table>

## What the Autotester shows

<figure><img src="/files/ed8dfb67efcd58e111efada4f5b7d8ac585d0dc6" alt="" width="466"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**-Signals** - the total number of BUY, SELL signals for the specified periods

**-****SL** - how many losing trades hit SL

**-Win Rate** - the ratio of winning trades that did not hit stop-loss to the total number

<figure><img src="/files/909386ed1124c9f834a28516c0f83ebb3695d0cb" alt="" width="563"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**-Profit** - peak profit of winning trades that did not hit stop-loss (on the chart <mark style="color:$success;">green percentages</mark>)

{% hint style="warning" %}
We calculate peak profit because Midas is an indicator, not a trading bot!

Peak profit is needed to compare the potential of different settings with each other, not to imitate your real trading down to the last take-profit.

In practice, you will still be closing trades manually, according to your strategy, and you will not enter every signal — so this statistic should be viewed as a benchmark for comparing potential and choosing the best settings, not as a promise of exact results.
{% endhint %}

**-Loss** - the total amount of losses across all trades closed by stop-loss (on the chart <mark style="color:$danger;">red percentages</mark>)

**-Total** - the combined P\&L potential of the settings (peak profit minus losses from stops)

**-Average per trade** - the averaged potential price movement per trade, taking into account profit and loss from SL

## When to use the Autotester

Use this mode when you want to quickly test a new strategy, compare several setting options, choose a more suitable preset for a specific asset, or simply understand whether it is worth continuing to work with the selected combination of parameters at all.

Put simply, the Autotester is not for opening a trade “here and now,” but for **first testing the hypothesis with numbers**, and only then using it in live mode with signals and alerts.

## How to use the Autotester

Open the indicator settings and select the operating mode **“Autotester”**. Then set the desired asset, timeframe, and the settings you are interested in, and then compare the statistics for different options.

It is best to test not everything at once, but sequentially: change one important parameter at a time and see how it affects the statistics. This way you will more quickly understand which settings truly improve your working scenario and which only create the illusion of quality.

## Frequently asked questions and recommendations

<details>

<summary>What is the win rate of the signals?</summary>

You have access to detailed signal statistics, taking into account losses from stops and peak profits from winning trades.

The real win rate will depend only on your trading strategy and experience! On how and where you take profit, which signals you enter and which you don’t!

</details>

<details>

<summary>How is profit calculated on profitable trades?</summary>

We calculate **peak profit**, because Midas is not a bot and does not trade for you; it shows the potential of signals based on the settings you choose, so you can quickly compare different strategies and filters and choose those that show greater potential on your market and timeframe.

Do not treat the indicator and statistics as a trading bot: you decide which signals to enter, how to manage the trade, and when to take profit; the indicator is an advisor!

</details>

<details>

<summary>How much will I earn — what % profit per year?</summary>

You can turn on auto-testing mode and see the potential of trades and profits.

Real profit depends only on you and no one else — if you do not follow risk management, you can lose your entire deposit on the very first trade.

The indicator is not a magic Grail and does not make decisions for you — it only helps you analyze charts properly and notifies you in time when a move begins.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Why not configure the parameters for closing trades and precise testing?</summary>

The indicator very accurately shows the levels from which you can open a trade and the nearest areas of interest as targets for the trade, which pull the price only at the moment of the signal.

But the indicator **cannot predict future circumstances** - news, manipulation, political and economic changes, etc.

After opening a trade, you must **monitor it** using the lower indicator, trying to determine as accurately as possible the best moment to maximize profit.

How many take-profits to use, how many, whether to enable trailing — at what moment, by what size and percentage of movement, whether to move the stop to breakeven after a certain take-profit or not — it is simply impossible for the indicator to display such complex logic for closing a position.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Why can't the indicator be turned into a trading bot?</summary>

The whole essence of Midas is the best analysis tools in one window, but it is not a black box that trades on its own and manages your money!

Buy & Sell notifications must absolutely not be used as a standalone signal to open a trade!

They are needed only for automatic alerts so you don't have to watch charts for hours...

In other words, the indicator is a tool for manual trading and your advisor.

<details>

<summary><strong>What exactly does the Autotester show?</strong></summary>

The Autotester shows a table with statistics of past signals based on your current settings, while the indicators themselves are hidden in this mode so that you look specifically at the test result, not at a cluttered chart.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>For what period is the statistics available?</strong></summary>

The Midas pages state that in the Autotester you can view statistics for at least the last week, month, and year, depending on the specific use case and the FAQ page.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>Can the Autotester be used to determine the exact future win rate?</strong></summary>

No, because the real win rate depends not only on the signal, but also on your trade management strategy, profit taking, stops, and discipline; this is separately emphasized in the Midas FAQ.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>Can this statistics be used to understand exactly how much I will earn?</strong></summary>

No, the Autotester shows the potential of past signals and helps compare settings, but real profit depends on you, your risk management, and how you trade in practice.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>Why can't the Autotester calculate trade closing perfectly?</strong></summary>

Because the indicator cannot foresee news, manipulation, and other future circumstances, and the exit logic depends too much on your strategy: the number of take-profits, trailing, moving the stop, and other decisions, which is directly explained in the Midas FAQ.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>Can the Autotester be used as a trading bot or autopilot?</strong></summary>

No, Midas is positioned as a tool for manual trading and analysis, not as a trading bot; the Buy & Sell signals themselves are separately described on the site as notifications, not as a ready-made entry command.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>What should I do after finding good settings in the Autotester?</strong></summary>

After that, it makes sense to return to live mode, check the found parameters on the chart, make sure the signal logic suits you, and only then connect alerts in TradingView or Telegram. This sequence directly matches the structure of Midas educational pages.
